Building Bridges to Global Understanding Since 1986

In our area, Sister City programs have been connecting communities, strengthening relationships, and creating international partnerships since 1986.

Through both official and unofficial delegation visits, Duluth Sister Cities International has created strong bonds with five international cities across three continents. Though the purpose may vary, ranging from recreation to professional partnerships, these visits aim to connect citizens from each country in a profound way: enabling education and growth for all parties involved.

What do we hope to accomplish?

DSCI is thriving and widely known in the community for creating exciting opportunities to connect through person to person diplomacy and mutual respect with people from our Sister Cities. DSCI has funds and strong member support from the community to take our mission of promoting global understanding though cultural, economic, and educational endeavors.

β€œIt's about people meeting people across sometimes huge geographic and cultural distances. It's about people coming together over what they have in common rather than becoming divided over political differences. In short, the Sister Cities movement is about peacemaking at the grassroots level.”
